Waiting up

I wrote the song in April, 1981 and I originally gave it the longer title:
When you're waiting up for someone you think you love

I think I have to let this song speak for itself; the extended title says it all. If you have been unlucky enough to be in this position, you may well find some things that you can relate to within the verses of this song. If it has happened recently, it is difficult for me to know what to say since it happened to me over 20 years ago now. I can only talk about my own experience drawing on the well-worn clichés that abound in our culture for handling this sort of stuff: time passes, life moves on. Best I can do, I'm afraid.

The song is written in E major.
