I then played my second gig early this morning at the Shore Babes venue in SL. Again, the venue manager, Minni Trotter, was wonderfully supportive. There were not many people at the gig because it was 01.00 a.m. SLT. I experienced my first bit of negativity during that gig from a member of the audience, but then I've had to deal with that for decades in real life busking situations in English pubs (actually, it seldom occurs but you just have to accept that it will occasionally do so). I think Minni chased the person off :) I get as upset by this sort of thing in SL as I do in rl. In rl, my mate Terry advises me to just ignore it but that is sometimes easier said than done. In terms of SL gigs, it may be best not to read the nearbye chat while playing, but then you would miss all the lovely comments and encouragement that most people give you! I'll have to think about this one, or grow a thicker skin!
Thanks to Jess for taking some pics at the gig, too. It feels a bit strange mixing what is essentially an SL blog into this rl blog. But then this mirrors the fact that music performance in SL is also a strange mix between SL and rl. I'll see how this works out. If necessary, I might open up a separate blog page for SL, but I'll keep everything together here ftb.
My next gig will be at The Vibe HQ in SL on 12th January, Saturday morning 0900-1000 SLT
So, until the next time I remain....
Your very own,
Enigmatic Pencil
